Supertuscan wines in Maremma

Recently I went to visit  the beautiful Tuscan coast  that is is called Maremma  alta, beautiful landscape, white sand beaches and pretty old small towns;  this area is  becoming famous as well as the Bolgheri coast, located in the northest part of the coast near Bolgheri , Castagneto Carducci, Livorno.

This time I  took the chance to visit the Rocca di Frassinello winery, designed by Mario Botta, one of the most famous architects in the world,  he designed a very special, unique  aging cellar, here  he wanted to recreate a sort of  roman amphitheater or inverted pyramid, there is a hole in the roof that at certain times of day, a ray of light comes just inside the cellar, creating a magical and surreal, atmosphere.

The Rocca di Frassinello  winery  is about three-hours drive from Florence, so should you want to come here consider at least 2 days
